Dear Readers,
You may have noticed a sudden dip in the number of posts this month. Usually I post a film review every Friday but a major shift in real-life priorities has made it difficult for me to maintain my regular posting schedule.
I started Rose-Coloured Ray-Bans a couple years ago in a time of serious depression and aimlessness. I needed to force myself to create again regularly, shortly after finishing my undergrad studies, in order to bring a modicum of stability back into my life. This blog was my creative outlet and a tangible project for me to build my voice and instil the habit of writing while still being related to my favourite subject in the world—movies.
However, in the last couple of months I have not had as much time to watch movies or television shows (Stranger Things S2, The Punisher, and The Crown S2 are still sitting unwatched in my Netflix queue), which pains me a little bit. Each Friday post has moved lower and lower down the long list of things I have to do every week and finding the words to write honestly and interestingly about movies is no longer a discipline that I crave or need.
I’ve made the grown-up decision to release myself from my self-imposed obligation and expectation to write regular content in order to concentrate on much more pressing matters in my personal life. But fear not! I will still be posting on occasion, when the time allows, and I have not lost my love of movies or television.
Here’s to the end of a long, difficult year and the beginning of a new one. As one dynamic duo would say, “Be excellent to each other.”
